Raina does not like it when her teacher gets her homework for the day, because she does not like to do that much work, when she is home with her family. She wants to play games with her family sometimes, most times she likes to talk with her friends because they need to talk about their day. Her friends like it when they are alone because they want to talk about boys, drama, or what happened in class. Her family thinks that she talks to her friends too much. Raina likes to get time to herself, because her siblings are really annoying.
Raina understand what her friends saying everyday.

There was an old lady sitting on the ground in Pompeii after an earthquake who Marcus saw in the crowd who looks liked she needed help. Marcus helped her up and gave her an apple. The crowd did not pay any attention to the old lady but Marcus did. He was using empathy because he stopped to help her. After Marcus helped her up, she said "When hope is lost follow the hands of Mercury. Don't you understand?" Marcus did not know what she meant.

She uses it when her friends are down. She also uses it when she wants to cheer someone up. My character is very good at this. She always shows empathy.

His grandmother lied to him. He had to understand why she lied to him and except her apology. His grandmother lied to him for a reason. A very serious reason. His grandmother didn't want to get caught and sent to jail. So she did not want her's grandson to know about it. But his grandson found out about it and he had to understand with empathy.

In this book the main characters use the habit of mind when they are salving crime. They listen to what they are saying. They use empathy to relate to their stories and show people that they are on their side. They are the best crime salvers ever!
